Who We Are > Our FirmAnzalone Liszt Research (ALR) is a public opinion research firm specializing in message development and strategic consulting designed to help our clients meet their goals. For nearly 20 years, we have partnered with clients ranging from national and local political campaigns to issue organizations, foundations, and corporations of all sizes. John Anzalone started the firm in 1994 in Washington, D.C. Over the past two decades, ALR has opened offices in Montgomery, AL and New York - while maintaining the high degree of attentiveness and involvement with our clients. We’re especially proud of our role helping elect President Obama in 2008. ALR polled in seven states for the Obama general election campaign, including the critical “red to blue” states of Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia – and we’re excited to be a part of the President’s 2012 re-election campaign. Our work for President Obama is just one example of our strong record of electing Democrats in tough states and districts. Over the past three cycles, ALR has won more Republican-held seats in Congress than any other polling firm. We currently poll for two Senators and thirteen House Members, plus the IE programs for the DSCC, DCCC and DGA. ALR also has a wealth of experience in advocacy and outreach campaigns. We were one of the lead pollsters in the health care and financial reform debates, conducting numerous nationwide and state-level surveys for groups such as Health Care for America Now, AFSCME, the Herndon Alliance, and Americans United. We also recently played key roles in helping to pass legislation in Connecticut that provides workers with guaranteed paid sick days and a new program in Iowa that helps make contraceptives available to low-income women. Despite these successes, however, we're still a small firm at heart. We haven't forgotten that our success is built on a high level of engagement with our clients and a commitment to hands-on involvement in messaging and targeting long after our research is completed. As pollsters, we’re committed to going beyond simply providing numbers. We believe in being an active part of the consultant team - rolling up our sleeves to ensure the strategic recommendations derived from our research are well executed, disciplined, and exceed the expectations of our clients.
